Martin Bennett ACII
Chair of the Board
Mr Martin Bennett joined Orwell Housing Association as a Board Member in June 2000.
He is a Chartered Insurer. He recently retired after a 35 year career with a leading UK General Insurance company where his responsibilities included the management of overseas subsidiary companies and the delivery of change and compliance within the EEC of the Insurance Services Directive. His last role before retirement was the overall management of a UK Regional Operation employing over 300 staff.
He is currently employed part-time as Company Secretary to Temple-Head which is a Department of Health funded charity that provides services to people with acquired brain injuries.
The Board
The Board delegates various matters to its committees. Specifically, it will approve the annual accounts and any matters referred to by a committee unable to resolve a particular issue. The Board will always reserve the right to reconsider any resolution made by one of the committees.

Policy & Finance Committee
Detailed supervision and monitoring of the financial affairs of the Association are carried out by the Policy & Finance Committee.
Audit Committee
The Audit Committee examines the internal controls within the organisation and is also responsible for the appointment of both internal and external auditors.
Development & Property Services
This committee is responsible for monitoring the work of the Development & Property Services department, including the approval and monitoring of all new schemes undertaken by the Association.
Housing, Support & Care Committee
The Association’s Housing Management and Supported Housing & Care Committees have recently been amalgamated into a new Housing, Support & Care Committee. This committee considers policies and monitors performance in respect of both general needs housing management and supported housing and care schemes.
Tenant Involvement Committee
This committee provides a forum for elected tenant representatives to meet with board members on a regular basis to discuss any items appertaining to the Association’s properties, communities and tenancy matters. It directly links into the work of the Housing, Support & Care Committee.
