Supporting People in or Leaving Abusive Relationships

Discover more below about our domestic abuse services which aim to put an end to long term suffering.

Domestic Abuse Services

South Norfolk Domestic Abuse Service within the EHH in South Norfolk District Council

The service supports people who are, or have been in abusive relationships. It is able to offer support to men and women allowing them to be safe when they are fleeing from an abusive relationship.

As we know this is the riskiest time, we will work with people to create a safety plan when leaving. When risk assessing, if the risk is high and there is potential for serious harm, we will refer to specialist high risk support.

The outreach service will support standard, medium and high risk people, which entails working with multiple agencies within the help hub so we can support to seek alternative housing, refuge space or support for them to remain safe in their own home. This may be supporting people to gain legal advice or it may be the person suffering domestic abuse requires support through criminal, civil or family court. We can be at their side every step of the way.

Although we are not counsellors, we offer both practical and emotional support at every stage. We will meet people 1:1 and wherever they feel most comfortable to meet. Our aim is to empower people and give them options so they are able to make choices for their future.

Our ethos is not only to keep families safe, but to offer them the opportunity to gain quality of life.
