Orwell Housing paying for a day of care and support from EACH across Suffolk

Orwell Housing is paying for a day of care and support from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) across Suffolk, having raised a superb £7,131.65.

Orwell's 600 members of staff have been busy taking part in various fundraising activities and initiatives over the past year, including the 55 miles for 55 years Challenge that saw a group walk from Southwold to Ipswich over 2 days and camping overnight in a colleagues garden. The event doubled as a celebration of Orwell Housing’s 55th anniversary.

Other fundraising highlights have included Michelle Jallow doing a skydive and the 12 days of fundraising by staff over Christmas that brought in £2,500.

As well as those efforts, Orwell has taken part in Bag It, Bring It, Boost It, EACH’s donation drive to boost its shops, collecting some 110 bags worth an average of £10 each.

Next month, some staff will attend a volunteering day at The Treehouse, EACH’s hospice in Ipswich.

Victoria Matthews, EACH Suffolk Corporate Fundraiser, said: “Orwell Housing have had a fantastic 12 months, going above and beyond in their commitment to supporting EACH, and their efforts are going to make a real difference today. We really appreciate their kindness and support.”

Wendy Evans-Hendrick, Orwell Housing CEO, said:

“It made us proud to support EACH with their fundraising efforts in 2018 as it is such as worthwhile cause.  All the staff got involved and really enjoyed themselves in doing so.”

Orwell Housing manages around 4,000 properties across Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex, providing homes for over 7,500 residents.
