Orwell hands over its 20th shared ownership home of the year
Orwell’s shared ownership team is celebrating a special milestone after handing over its 20th shared ownership home of the year.
As we mark National Moving Day, Sandra, Orwell’s Home Ownership Advisor, recently handed over the keys to the new homeowner at The Rookery, Creeting St Mary, in Suffolk, marking another successful move for a customer looking to take their next step onto the property ladder.
Making home ownership more accessible
Shared ownership is designed to help people who may not be able to afford to buy a home outright. The scheme allows buyers to purchase a share of a property and pay rent on the remaining share, helping to reduce the size of the deposit and mortgage needed.
Many shared ownership homeowners can also buy additional shares in their property over time through a process known as staircasing, which can eventually lead to full ownership.
For many people, shared ownership offers a more affordable route into home ownership and the opportunity to enjoy the security and stability of having a place to call their own.
A rewarding milestone
Reflecting on the milestone, Sandra said:
“Helping people take their first step onto the property ladder or move into a home that truly suits their needs is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.
It is always a privilege to support buyers as they take that exciting step into home ownership and to share in the moment they receive the keys to their new home.”
Supporting local communities
As a housing association, we are committed to providing high-quality homes and creating opportunities for people to live in places they can afford. Through developments such as Halesworth, we continue to invest in local communities and help more people achieve their housing aspirations.
We wish the newest shared owner every happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter in their new home.
