Continuing the Conversation: Christian Owens’ Trans & Nonbinary Guide

Earlier this year, we welcomed Christian Owens, founder of GenderSpaceUK, who shared his personal journey and delivered an insightful session on gender identity in the workplace.

Drawing on his lived experience as a transgender man, Christian shared a powerful and personal perspective on the realities of being transgender, exploring both the challenges and the moments of joy that have shaped his journey, while encouraging meaningful conversations about creating more inclusive workplaces.

To build on those discussions, Christian has since provided a GenderSpaceUK Trans & Nonbinary Resource Guide, packed with useful resources for anyone looking to learn more. The guide includes recommended podcasts, books, films and documentaries, as well as practical tools to support allyship and inclusive leadership.

It also encourages personal reflection, helping us to continue learning, challenging assumptions and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome and respected.

Christian shared with us what inspired him to do this and it’s important to share with others:

“My journey of gender transition taught me the power of understanding, authenticity, and community. There was a time when I was searching for answers, trying to understand who I really was and where I belonged.

During my transition, I found the courage to embrace my true, authentic self. I created this guide to leave a small piece of my journey with others. Whether you are exploring your own identity, supporting a loved one, standing as an ally, or striving to create a more inclusive community, this guide is for you. If it helps just one person to feel understood, empowered, or less alone, then it has fulfilled its purpose. I truly believe that education and shared understanding are the foundations of empathy, inclusion, and belonging.

I embraced this piece of work with a real passion, as I was looking for support and resources during my journey, both for me and for those around me. But at times, it was difficult to find. I now find myself in a position of being an educator, a speaker and to some, a role model.

This guide is more than a resource; it is my personal gift to others, shared in the hope that no one has to walk their journey alone.”

We’d like to thank Christian for continuing to support our learning journey and for providing this valuable resource to help keep the conversation going.
