Orwell Housing Association confirms commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Orwell Housing Association has, this week, taken a big step forward towards its goal of being a truly inclusive organisation by signing the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Diversity and Inclusion charter.

Orwell recognises the benefits of a construction industry that is more diverse and inclusive. They have signed up to the CIOB Diversity and Inclusion Charter, which commits them to show leadership, to have a plan, to be transparent and to ensure working for them is a welcoming experience for those who want to join this great industry.

The aim of the charter is to promote positive change and employers that sign up will see improvements in the diversity and sense of belonging in their organisations, helping to address the skills shortage increasingly affecting the sector.

Greg Dodds, Assistant Director of Development and Growth at Orwell, said:

“Our desire to increase diversity and inclusion in the construction industry is a long-standing ambition that aligns with our company values and mission.

“A diverse workforce increases the pool of talent available, ensures a wide range of ideas and thoughts are explored, increases productivity, and makes the industry more representative.”

“It is a journey that is essential and will involve organisations changing cultures and processes, a journey we have started and are committed to continuing.”
