Make a Payment | MyOrwell Account

You can make payments online through the Orwell website or by logging into your MyOrwell account.

Please ensure you use your payment reference number.

To make future payments easier, you can create a PayPoint account and save your payment details. This means you won’t need to enter your reference number each time you pay.

If your payment didn’t go through, please check with your bank first to make sure the amount hasn’t been deducted before making another payment or contact us.

• A simple rent statement is available through Orwell's tenant portal 'My Orwell'.  You can also request a full copy of your rent statement by contacting us on 0345 60 100 30.
• For any of the above payment options, you will need a bank debit card (with sufficient funds in your bank account to cover the payment you’re going to make).
• If you are paying accommodation charges or court costs, you will need your 6 digit unique Orwell payment reference which can be found at the top of your rent statement.
• If you are paying a recharge you will need the 8 digit invoice number which can be found on the invoice you have been sent.
• These options are completely secure and quick ways of making payment. At the end of the transaction you will be told whether the payment has been successful, and you will be given a reference number. If you pay over the internet, you will also have the opportunity to give your email address so an automated receipt can be sent to you.

Please note: Credit cards will not be accepted for rent payments unless this has been authorised by an Orwell Director. Please speak to the Housing Management team should you wish to discuss this further.

Phone

You can still pay by phone using your debit card. However, you will now be directed to a secure automated system.

• To ensure we protect your financial information, payments can no longer be made by speaking to an advisor.
• Please have your payment reference number (provided at the end of this letter) ready before you call.

To make a payment using the automated phone line, call 0345 60 100 30 and choose ‘make a payment’ when prompted.

Direct Debit is the most convenient and secure way to make your payments. Over 1,200 customers already use this method to pay regularly because it comes straight out of your bank account. It is quicker and easier than paying by standing order.

A Direct Debit instructs your Bank or Building Society to make regular payments from your account to Orwell, so you do not have to remember when your rent is due or change the amount to be paid. It is easy to set up and gives you peace of mind, knowing that your rent has been paid on time each month.

In May 2026, we’ll be moving our Direct Debit management to a new payment provider, PayPoint. If you already pay your rent or charges by Direct Debit, you don’t need to do anything, your payments will continue as normal.

You now have more ways to pay. You can make payments at any shop that accepts PayPoint, including your local Spar or Co-op. Just look for the PayPoint logo outside the shop.

To make a payment:

• Take your unique barcode (found via your payment letter which would have been received December 2025) to the cashier.
• Please note: Each PayPoint transaction is limited to a maximum of £300. If your total payment exceeds this amount, you will need to make more than one transaction.
• Keep your receipt as proof of payment.

If your barcode is lost or damaged, please contact us for a replacement.

Please note that if you are paying by standing order, your payment reference should always be quoted so that we can make sure that the payment is made to your account. If you are unsure of what your payment reference, is please contact us on 0345 60 100 30. 

You can pay your rent at any Lloyds Bank branch or Post Office using a paying-in book.

Please be aware that this is the slowest payment method and payments may take up to 5 working days to process. To avoid delays, we recommend making your payment early.

Important: Do not use a deposit envelope. Always pay over the counter directly to a cashier to ensure your payment is proceeded correctly.

When paying at the Lloyds bank, please include:

• Your name
• The address you're paying for
• Your payment reference.
