As we move towards Spring, we would like to remind our customers of our leaf litter policy, which also includes fallen blossom.

Orwell will not prune or fell a tree to remove or reduce leaf fall, nor remove fallen leaves from private property.

The loss of leaves from trees in the autumn is part of the tree’s natural cycle and cannot be avoided by pruning.

The maintenance of gutters in a property neighbouring an Orwell home is the responsibility of the property owners or tenants, and Orwell is not obliged to remove leaves that may have fallen from Orwell owned trees.

Where gutters are regularly blocked by fallen leaves, gutter guards may be fitted to provide a low maintenance solution. Orwell may fit gutter guards to Orwell homes but will not fit them to homes we do not own.

On streets and in green spaces, paths or areas of hard standing are regularly cleared of fallen leaves but leaves on grass and shrub beds are generally left until the majority of leaves have fallen before they are cleared or left to decompose naturally.
