Supporting People in or Leaving Abusive Relationships – South Norfolk and Broadland District Council.

Discover more below about our domestic abuse services which aim to put an end to long term suffering.

South Norfolk Domestic Abuse Service within the Early Help Hub (EHH) in the South Norfolk District Council

The service supports people who are, or have been in abusive relationships. It is able to offer support to men and women allowing them to be safe when they are fleeing from an abusive relationship.

As we know this is the riskiest time, we will work with people to create a safety plan when leaving. When risk assessing, if the risk is high and there is potential for serious harm, we will refer to specialist high risk support.

Support every step of the way.

The outreach service will support standard and medium risk people, which entails working with multiple agencies within the help hub so we can support to seek alternative housing, refuge space or support for them to remain safe in their own home. This may be supporting people to gain legal advice or it may be the person suffering domestic abuse requires support through criminal, civil or family court. We can be at their side every step of the way.

Practical and emotional support to help people move forward.

Although we are not counsellors, we offer both practical and emotional support at every stage. We will meet people 1:1 and wherever they feel most comfortable to meet. Our aim is to empower people and give them options so they are able to make choices for their future.

Our ethos is not only to keep families safe, but to offer them the opportunity to gain quality of life.

We want Norfolk to be a place where every child and young person can flourish!

We have recently pledged to support children and young people by providing a safe, secure and supportive environment where they are safe from harm, exploitation, abuse and neglect. We will do this by co-producing individual safety plans and helping children and young people feel supported and understood by providing one to one support from our child support worker.

Below we have displayed our Flourish Pledge Certificate.

If you’d like to find out more or talk through your options, we’d love to hear from you.
